TBA places emphasis on producing and providing resources to meet member needs. The association offers a variety of tools for sale at a reduced rate to member banks. Current resources include: the Texas Secured Lending Guide, Texas Credit Law Guide, Texas Home Equity Lending Guide, Texas Guide to Record Retention and the Account Documentation Manual.
The Texas Bankers Association is a 50 percent owner of the Texas Banking Red Book, the official directory of Texas banks and thrift institutions. The Red Book is a directory of all financial institutions in the state of Texas including a reference section with regulatory and governing agencies information. The Red Book is published in the spring and fall every year.
The Thumbprint Signature Program, initiated in 1995, is a natural check fraud deterrent. The Thumbprint pad is intended to deter counterfeit and stolen check fraud by obtaining a Thumbprint Signature (thumbprint) from non-customers when cashing on-us and not-on-us checks.
The "Stop ID Theft" program was
initiated by TBA in 2004 to help banks and their customers avoid the significant financial losses
associated with identity theft. Banks can purchase a variety of educational materials to help customers
avoid becoming victims of this growing crime and to help them regain their identities once they are stolen.
TBA endorses and promotes products and services that have been thoroughly reviewed and measured and were selected based upon their ability to meet TBASCO’s high expectations for quality and service. TBASCO promotes the products and services it believes merit consideration by TBA member banks.
Through BancInsure, TBA can offer member banks significant savings on
their insurance costs.
BancInsure provides Financial Institution Bond and Directors and Officers Liability insurance
as well as package policies to protect bank buildings, contents and automobiles.
