Seven Emerging Leaders honored for outstanding qualities

Seven Texas bankers have been selected by the Texas Bankers Foundation as emerging leaders in the banking industry. Launched in 2019 by the Texas Bankers Foundation, the award honors bankers who have had a positive impact on the banking industry and who represent the best values of Texas community banking.

To be honored, bankers must have between five and 15 years of banking experience, be employees of a TBA member banking institution and be nominated by the bank president, CEO or chairman of the board.

Casey HarbersVice president, lobby manager
National Bank & Trust, La Grange

In the few months Harbers has been with National Bank & Trust, she has used the leadership skills gained in her 12-year banking career to set up new operation and lobby structures.

She has a passion for helping families meet their financial needs and goals. Her efforts have included providing financial education to seniors at the local retirement home and teaching the bank’s Penny Pinches program to community youth. She serves on the La Grange Main Street as an advisory board member.

Harbers, who is currently attending TBA’s Management Development Program, helps fellow team members reach their potential through training and development programs.

Joshua S. McKeeSenior vice president, market president
Veritex Community Bank, Dallas

With more than 14 years in banking, McKee has been with Veritex Community Bank since 2011. He is the co-lead of the 2022 strategic plan for the community banking line of business and chairs the bank’s Way Team, which addresses and improves processes and procedures.

He is a co-founder of Stewards of the Wild, a young professionals program supporting the mission of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation.

McKee is also involved with the Watermark CDC, which serves the economic needs of under-resourced Dallas communities with services that include financial literacy, vocational training & empowerment and job placement programs.

Heather RodriguezVice president, operations and payments
Texas Security Bank, Dallas

Rodriguez has spent her entire 14-year career at Texas Security Bank, where she started as a part-time teller in a temporary construction trailer. Today, she manages the bank’s deposit operations, branch operations and payments, training, cross-training and re-writing processes and procedures.

She had a key role in the bank’s 2014 core banking transition. In 2020, she played a leadership role in the bank’s digital banking conversion to Q2, implementing their Centrix back-office solutions

As an AAP certified payments specialist, Rodriguez does a considerable amount of mentoring with Texas Security Bank’s small business clients.

Brennen K. WilliamsDecatur branch president, senior vice president
Legend Bank, N.A., Decatur

Williams has been with Legend Bank his entire 13-year career, where he started as a credit analyst. 

He helped start the Ag Task Force that has assisted the bank’s employees, their Ag customers and the bank’s executive management during the pandemic. 

He has served the community as a board member and officer of the Decatur Chamber of Commerce, and he currently serves as vice president and treasurer of the Wise County Champions and Blue Ribbon Club. He was chairman of the First Baptist Church budget and finance committee from 2020-2021. With his background and expertise in agriculture, he has mentored youth involved in agriculture through local stock shows for many years.

Phillip JamesBusiness Development Office
North Dallas Bank & Trust Co., Dallas

James has spent most of his banking career with NDBT in treasury management, transitioning to business development in September 2021. In his new role, he led the charge for PPP loan forgiveness for the bank’s 1,092 PPP loans.

He participates in community service initiatives through NDBT Cares with a primary emphasis on financial literacy to youth, homeless individuals and mature audiences by partnering with community and regional non-profits. He serves as a board member for the Moorland Family YMCA at Oak Cliff and on a committee for Family Gateway Dallas.

James was recognized with the 2022 NDBT Cares Leadership Award. 

Tyler RandolphChief loan officer, senior vice president
First State Bank, Spearman

Randolph brought his lifetime of agricultural experience and previous banking experience to First State Bank in 2017. He used his skills to open the bank’s first remote Loan Production Office and grew a substantial Ag loan portfolio; the LPO was profitable from its inception.

He is a pillar of the agriculture community, serving on the Randall County Livestock and Corps Board as well as helping found the Bushland 4-H Club, where he currently serves as a leader and mentor. 

Randolph graduated from West Texas A&M, Canyon with a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness and graduated from SWGSB in 2021. He was named FSB’s Employee of the Year in 2018.

S. Craig SchwartinskyChief credit officer
Central National Bank, Waco

In Schwartinsky’s 14 years with Central National Bank, he has moved from teller, commercial teller, proof supervisor and credit analyst to credit and loan operations manager. He is also the vice chair of the senior loan committee. 

He led the bank through a conversion of its loan documentation software and managed the remodel of the credit department space. 

He has recently created a bank task force to recruit talent from local universities for part-time positions at the bank. The goal is to build a solid foundation of credit analysts and develop them into loan officers. Schwartinsky also mentors Baylor students in their finance and accounting classes.
