City Bank honors employee for 75 years in banking

Clara Edwards celebrates 75 years in bankingCity Bank celebrated longtime banker Ms. Clara Edwards for her 75 years of commitment and dedication to banking. Edwards’ family, friends, colleagues and members of the Monahan community came together to commemorate her seven and a half decades in banking.

City Bank leaders joined the celebration to present Edwards with a check of $7,500. She was also honored in the Big Apple where her picture was displayed on a NASDAQ billboard in Times Square. “I just love Monahans, and they’ve been good to me. I’ve enjoyed it all,” Edwards said.

Edwards first started her banking career in 1948 at the First State Bank of Monahans. She has served in many bank capacities and is currently the familiar, smiling face greeting customers as they enter City Bank.

Edwards is an active member of the Monahans community. She was instrumental in bringing softball to the young women of Monahans in 1967. She has coached numerous teams, started the high school girls program and coached a Special Olympics team. She also volunteers at the local senior citizen center and is involved with Meals on Wheels.
