Halfway there

TBA Building renderingThe start of summer is Texas Tour time when the TBA staff annually travels across the state with our new Chairman to listen to you, to discuss key issues and to provide important updates on the association’s work. As we visit with you this year, new Chairman Ford Sasser and the team are sure to get the question: “How is the new TBA building project going?”

The new headquarters is a major investment for TBA, so it is a great question. But it is one we are happy to address because this is YOUR building! We look forward to going into detail and will share pictures and video on Texas Tour stops. But we thought we would give you a preview as construction passes the halfway point.

Recall that the membership voted overwhelmingly in 2018 to initiate the project with the purpose of maximizing the value of TBA’s incredible location at the corner of Lavaca and 10th Streets in downtown Austin. With unobstructed views of the Governor’s Mansion and State Capitol, it offers prime lease space that will generate non-member, non-dues revenue to support member activity for years to come.

After breaking ground in July 2021, the nine-story concrete and steel structure “topped out” on May 6, 2022. The next phase includes window installation and exterior finishes. Building out interior spaces has already begun.

Interest in leasing space in the TBA building is very strong — and for good reason. Potential tenants can now see that it will be a jewel with quick access to the Capitol complex, area restaurants and other downtown amenities. Check out the views that the new TBA building will command from the office space. It will be even better from the event center on the ninth floor and on the outdoor rooftop terrace!

When complete by early 2023, the new building will symbolize the strength of our association, our industry and our optimism for the future of Texas banking. And it will stand as a lasting testimony to the work of Texas bankers who paved the way, the bankers who serve our communities today and the next generation of bankers who will ensure that Texas continues to lead the way!

A briefing on the new building is just one of the many topics we will cover when we see you on the Texas Tour. Check out the schedule on www.texasbankers.com to see when we will be near you!
