Giving Back

One of the missions of the Texas Bankers Foundation is to serve and support Texas banks, their employees and communities. The Foundation has set up and coordinated disaster relief funds to collect and distribute donations to designated organizations or Texas bankers. One hundred percent of contributions received during these special drives went to those in need.
 

Uvalde Community Response Fund

TBA presents check to the Uvalde Response Fund In the wake of the May 24, 2022, tragic events at the Robb Elementary School in the community of Uvalde, Texas, TBA and IBAT united to establish the Uvalde Community Response Fund through the Texas Bankers Foundation. More than 200 donors from community banks, individual bankers as well as banking groups, community stakeholders and organizations from across the nation contributed to the fund for a total of $360,000.

In coordination with the First State Bank of Uvalde and other local community banks, the funds raised were donated to the National Compassion Fund’s Uvalde Together We Rise Fund on October 7, 2022. These funds will be distributed directly to the victims and survivors of this tragedy.

TBA CARES

The TBA CARES (Crisis Assistance, Response and Emergency Support) program is designed to assist communities impacted by localized disasters. Working directly with TBA-member community banks in impacted areas, donations have been made to local organizations throughout the state.

Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund

Bankers throughout the state and nation wanted to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey. TBA set up special relief fund and $1.6 million in donations were received. More than $1.5 million dollars of the funds were distributed to 732 bankers who had lost their homes, cars, personal belongs, etc. The remaining $32,000 in funds was distributed to four Gulf Coast area 501(c)(3) organizations.

West Fertilizer Plant Explosion

Members of the Texas banking community came together following the fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas, in April 2013. More than $163,000 was raised for the Victims of the West Explosion Fund, which was used to support the unmet needs of the victims.

Texas Bankers Fire Relief Fund

In 2011, when wildfires destroyed many areas of the state, the Texas Bankers Association and the Independent Bankers Association of Texas set up the Texas Bankers Fire Relief Fund. The funds went to the Texas chapters of the American Red Cross and the Texas Wildfire Relief Fund; $67,680 was raised.

The American Red Cross of Central Texas recognized the industry's support.

Support for Military Heroes

Since 2015, the Foundation has made donations to organizations that support wounded veterans, including. the Military Warriors Support Foundation and the Wounded Warrior Project. To date, $90,000 has been donated.


A $10,000 check is presented to the Wounded Warrior Project.
