Banking Commissioner appoints Wendy Rodriguez as Deputy Commissioner
Texas Banking Commissioner Charles G. Cooper announced Friday, August 20, 2021, the appointment of Wendy Rodriguez as the agency’s Deputy Commissioner.
Ms. Rodriguez will oversee all the operational and administrative functions of the Department including strategic initiatives. In this capacity, she will assist the Commissioner with governmental interactions to include the Office of the Governor, the Texas Legislature, and other state agencies.
Ms. Rodriguez is a graduate of Southwest Texas State University, now known as Texas State University, with a BBA in Finance. Since joining the Department in June 1999, she has held various positions within the agency, including Assistant Examiner and Consumer Assistance Specialist. She later served as the Director of Strategic Support for over eleven years and was responsible for overseeing the development of examination policy and procedures, the examiner commissioning process, agency publications, training activities, and consumer assistance activities.
In September 2019, she was promoted to Chief Operating Officer, becoming responsible for all administrative activities of the Department. In May 2021, she was given the responsibility of overseeing the Department’s management information systems.
