Virtual COVID-19 Update and the Financial Industry Seminar

The COVID-19 pandemic led to an unprecedented shutdown of the economy, both nationally and globally. Financial institutions are caught in its folds as an essential part of the recovery effort. Expected to funnel credit, even from the government, to consumers and businesses alike, they are on the frontline of the mission to speed up the return to a “normal” economy. Banks have been pressured to react quickly and effectively — regulators are advising financial institutions to use capital and liquidity buffers and have even eased specific capital requirements.

But are financial institutions succeeding? Are they meeting expectations? This 60-minute update will review the economic capacities of banks during the COVID-19 crisis, vulnerabilities the industry is facing and the longer-term risks to financial stability.
