John M. Heasley came to the TBA in September of 1994, after serving as Staff Director and Minority Counsel for the Subcommittee on Financial Institutions of the U.S. House of Representatives Banking Committee. He joined the banking committee in 1988, after serving as Legislative Assistant for former Congressman Steve Bartlett. From 1981–1986, he was Assistant Criminal District Attorney for Dallas County, serving in the trial division specializing in major felony crime and white collar crime prosecutions. He earned both his undergraduate and law degrees at the University of Texas.
