Financial Resources During the Pandemic

Helping Customers at Home (Parents, Teachers, Grandparents, Students, Families)

Now that Texas students are completing the remainder of the school year remotely, teachers and parents may be looking for new lessons and resources. The Texas Bankers Association and Foundation would like to recommend three free resources for you to share with customers and staff that provide excellent financial education lessons. Most are interactive too.

$martPath is a financial literacy learning platform for grades 1-8. The program was designed for teachers and classrooms but is now being shared for home use. There are three lessons per grade level that use an engaging, story-based mix of videos with cartoon characters and interactive questions. To get started, a teacher or parent will need to create an account and take a short Zoom walk through the $martPath platform.

The mission of the Next Gen Personal Finance (NGPF) is to revolutionize the teaching of personal finance in all schools in order to improve the financial lives of the next generation of Americans. NGPF's curriculum and professional development extends to 25,000 middle and high school teachers reaching more than 2 million students. Though the program is designed to provide teachers with resources, some materials, arcade/games and videos are available to parents and students.

The Jump$tart Coalition brings together national organizations and a network independent, affiliated state coalitions that focuses on the importance of effective financial education. The organization manages the Jump$tart Clearinghouse, which is the premier financial literacy online resource for educators, parents, students and others to find effective, financial education resources from various sources. As we look for the positives during this unprecedented time, we hope parents, teachers, grandparents and kids, take the opportunity to discuss the importance of savings, choices and decisions on spending, budgeting and even donating to those in need.
