Crypto fraud losses increased 45%, per FBI

A 2023 Cryptocurrency Fraud Report by the Federal Bureau of Investigation found that cryptocurrency-related fraud increased by 45%, totaling more than 5.6 billion in losses.

The FBI received over 69,000 public complaints of financial fraud related to crypto, including bitcoin. Investment fraud was the most reported complaint, and Texas ranked third in the number of complaints. See the full report here.
