Texas Bankers Association Hosts U.S.–U.K. Digital Assets and Transatlantic Capital Markets Dialogue with TheCityUK
(DALLAS) – The Texas Bankers Association (TBA) hosted the Transatlantic Digital Asset Dialogue on Tuesday with TheCityUK, bringing together financial services executives and policymakers from Texas and the United Kingdom to advance responsible innovation in digital assets and transatlantic capital markets.
Participants highlighted the growing importance of the Texas–U.K. financial corridor as leaders in both markets develop the next generation of payments and financial infrastructure. Texas Senate Majority Leader Tan Parker and bankers from across the state joined U.K. representatives from TheCityUK, Eversheds Sutherland and others to discuss how financial services companies and policymakers can help shape the future of digital assets and transatlantic capital markets.
“TBA is proud to host this important conversation to bring bankers and policymakers together to explore collaborative approaches that build global confidence in responsible innovation to shape what comes next,” said Texas Bankers Association President & CEO Chris Furlow. “Operating from America’s new financial capital, Texas banks know we can support responsible digital asset innovation to deliver faster, safer financial services that better serve customers while preserving local community lending. This Texas–U.K. dialogue deepens ties between our markets, gives banks and financial services companies a stronger voice in emerging technology and standards, and expands opportunity on both sides of the Atlantic.”
Participants emphasized that focusing on interoperability from the start will create connected U.S. and U.K. digital assets that work seamlessly across borders. Closer cooperation also can create a more resilient, secure and competitive cross-border market. By aligning around shared standards, businesses in both countries can scale, build investor confidence and bring meaningful innovations to customers more quickly, leaders said.
“Texas and the U.K. are natural partners in the development of digital finance,” said Matthew Allen, global head of financial services at Eversheds Sutherland and chair of TheCityUK’s U.S. Market Advisory Group. “Both bring deep financial expertise, global reach and a commitment to practical innovation. Working together now can help ensure that our markets are connected, trusted and able to deliver value across borders.”
Texas Senate Majority Leader Tan Parker underscored the state’s strong business climate and leadership in financial innovation.
“Closer cooperation with the United Kingdom can attract investment, create jobs and establish a strong foundation for responsible digital asset growth while keeping security and consumer confidence at the center,” Parker said.
The meeting marks the latest step in U.S.–U.K. cooperation on digital assets and transatlantic capital markets. In July, the countries’ Treasury departments released recommendations from the Transatlantic Taskforce for Markets of the Future to deepen cross-border financial activity, reduce unnecessary friction and advance open, market-based standards that support innovation and growth. The countries also issued a joint statement on stablecoins.
Texas has played an important role in those conversations as a financial services leader, with more banks than any other state and nearly 1 million financial services workers, the largest such workforce in the country.
