Survey reveals record number of bank customers prefer mobile apps
According to a national survey conducted by Morning Consult on behalf of the American Bankers Association, majority of U.S. consumers are using mobile apps to conduct their banking. The survey found that 55% of bank customers used mobile apps on phones or other digital devices to manage their accounts over the past year—the highest percentage recorded since the survey began in 2017.
Approximately two-thirds of Gen Z (64%) and Millennials (68%) primarily use mobile banking apps, while just over half of Generation X (55%) do the same. In contrast, nearly half of Baby Boomers (41%) prefer managing their accounts through online banking via laptop or PC. Branch visits are favored by about 1 in 7 Baby Boomers (13%), compared to only 4% of Gen Z and Millennials who choose this option most often.
