Texas House Speaker announces Committee Appointments for 89th Session

Texas House Speaker Dustin Burrows has released committee assignments for the 89th Session, and TBA is pleased to share that former Big Country banker and bank director Stan Lambert will lead the Pensions, Investments & Financial Services Committee (PIFS). This committee serves as TBA’s primary jurisdictional body in the Texas House, overseeing matters related to banking, lending, privacy, identity theft, and regulatory agencies such as the Finance Commission of Texas, the Texas Department of Banking, and the Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending.

Four returning members—Lambert, Vice Chair Mihaela Plesa, John Bryant, and Hubert Vo—bring experience from last session, while five new members—Ben Bumgarner, Linda Garcia, Richard Holt, Janis Holt, and Alan Schoolcraft—offer fresh perspectives. Their addition presents a valuable opportunity for TBA members to engage with legislators and advocate for Texas banking.
