Trump appoints acting FDIC Chairman

1/20/2025

President Trump appointed Travis Hill, previously the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation vice chairman, to be the acting chairman of the Board. President Biden’s appointee chairman Martin Gruenberg resigned effective immediately.

A Republican appointee, Hill has served as the FDIC vice chairman since January 2023. He previously worked at the FDIC from 2018 to 2022, first as senior advisor to the chairman and later as deputy to the chairman for policy. Before his tenure at the FDIC, Hill served as a senior counsel for the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs.
